How to Hire A Lawyer in Ohio
Legal matters in Ohio require expertise that a skilled professional attorney is best to handle. We understand; the thought of hiring a lawyer probably seems scary and overwhelming, but rest assured that you are dealing with professionals whose job it is to work hard on your behalf. Remember, lawyers, are here to work for you and to win your case. It’s important to remember that finding the best lawyers in Ohio to act on your behalf can mean the difference between a legal win, or an unfortunate loss.  When searching for, or hiring a lawyer, remember the “4 Cs”
- Credentials: Firstly, make sure that the lawyer you plan to hire is an accredited legal professional and that they are practicing in the field of law in which they are experienced. Â
- Cost: It’s no surprise that legal experience and talent will cost you more – just like any industry. However, ask around to see what a few lawyers will charge to get an idea of an average price for services. Then, decide for yourself what the extra experience is worth to you.
- Comfort: Interview a few lawyers/attorneys and see who you feel the most comfortable with.  Remember, you will be forming an attorney/client “relationship” and personalities and trust are paramount.
- City: Also consider that you will likely be meeting face to face with your lawyer; so hire one that is easy to travel to. After all, that is the point of USLawyersNearMe!

Ohio Court System
Within the Ohio judicial branch, there are five levels of courts; these are:
It’s interesting to note that the vast majority of cases will be held in front of a District Court, then depending on the outcome, the case can be elevated to higher courts. In the end, the Supreme Court is considered the highest authority.
The intermediate appellate courts for the state of Ohio are known as District Courts of Appeal. The Ohio Constitution’s Article IV, Section 1 establishes the courts, while Article IV, Section 3 specifies the courts’ authority.Â
The District Courts of Appeal are divided into twelve districts, each of which is given a specific number of counties. Each district contains between four and twelve judges, while the number of judges in each district changes depending on the population and caseload.
Hearing appeals from the Ohio Court of Claims falls within the “special jurisdiction” of the 10th District, which is situated in Franklin County.
